Our journey
1956
On November 19, 1956, Manufacturas Metálicas Monterrey began operations at the Churubusco Plant with 40 employees manufacturing construction materials.
1957
Lamps for public lighting are produced.
1958
The first and only shrimp boat called "Codo Duro" is built.
1960
The first automotive part, a rim, is manufactured.
1961
Partnership with A.O. Smith begins in March, formalizing our entry into the automotive industry.
1968
The first contracts for the manufacture of chassis for commercial vehicles and pick-up trucks are obtained.
1980
The company changes its commercial name from Manufacturas Metálicas Monterrey to Metalsa.
1985
Apodaca plant begins operations.
1988
Acquisition of Premecna del Centro, a Mexican company from San Luis Potosí, Mexico.
1997
A new partnership is created with Tower Automotive.
2000
Acquired a commercial vehicle plant in Roanoke, Virginia, USA.
2006
Saltillo plant begins operations in Mexico and a technology center is inaugurated in Detroit, United States.
2007
Grupo Proeza acquires 100% of the management of Metalsa.
2008
Opening of commercial offices in India and Japan.
2010
Acquisition of the structural components business of Danna Holding Corporation, strengthening our position in the chassis and spar market, incorporating plants that today continue to operate in Argentina, Brazil and the United States.
2011
Inauguration of the Centro de Innovación y Desarrollo de Ventajas Competitivas (CIDeVeC) located in the Parque de Investigación e Innovación (PIIT) in Apodaca, Mexico.
2012
Starts construction of the commercial vehicle plant in Thailand.
2013
ISE Automotive GmbH is acquired, integrating passenger car expertise with manufacturing plants in China, Germany, South Africa and the United States.
2016
Metalsa celebrates 60 years as a global leader in the manufacture of chassis and siderails for light and commercial vehicles.
2023
Guanajuato plant begins operations in Mexico.
